General Safety TIPs For Soccer Players

• Have a pre-season physical examination and follow your doctor's recommendations.

• Use well-fitting cleats and shin guards: that molded and multi-studded cleats may be safer than screw-in cleats.

•Take a good look at the field conditions prior to playing; poor field conditions that can increase injury rates.

• Inspect soccer balls — some balls can become waterlogged and are more dangerous when heading.

• Aerobic conditioning, strength and agility training can ease you back into full contact after being inactive.

Maintain proper fitness — injury rates are higher in athletes who have not adequately prepared physically.

Avoid overuse injuries - more is not always better!

Hydrate adequately — waiting until you are thirsty is often too late to hydrate properly.

Always let your coach and or parent know when you are injured.
