Frustrated and disappointed the JV-A Women can still hold their heads high. Twelve shots on goal to their six set the barometer for the game, but we remained scoreless in a well-fought 2-0 loss to rival Portage Northern. The tone was set when Northern scored first and remained strong to score again even though the Stangs really put the pressure on their defense. The ladies fought hard the entire game and can truly be proud, as the crowd was, of their efforts. Two more games to go, make it happen Ladies!
The Mustang JV-B (Freshman) team ended their season with a 2-1 victory over the JV squad from Battle Creek Pennfield. The Mustangs struck quickly with Kelly Matyas scoring at 3:00 with an assist from Melanie Demint. Battle Creek Pennfield tied the score just before the end of the first half. The Mustangs continued their excellent play into the second half. Megan Nemire scored the game winner at 40:00 with an assist from Kristi Greene. The Mustangs applied continuous pressure throughout the second half. The victory enabled the team to
finish the season with an excellent 6-4-1 record. Congratulations to the entire JV-B team for an outstanding season and thanks to the varsity and JV-A coaching staffs for all their assistance throughout the year!
The Portage Central Mustang soccer team now has a message board. This is for everyone to share their thoughts on games, players, teams, etc. Please keep the information clean because it is monitored and can be taken off. Enjoy the message board and good luck to all the team's seasons.
